Xterra's underpinnings are the key. The "F-Alpha" platform that underlies the SUV is the same one that supports the Nissan Titan pickup and Nissan Armada SUV -- a fully-boxed, ladder-type frame with three solid engine mounts, power rack-and-pinion steering, double-wishbone independent front suspension and a solid axle rear with multi-leaf suspension.
