Know More About Childhood Anxiety

37
Anxiety is not only felt by adults.
Anxiety is common in children, too.
In fact, anxiety in children is expected during their development.
It is not uncommon for children to create feelings of fear, worry, and uneasiness at some of their lives.
What's hard for this condition is the inability of the children to express their feelings and emotions.
This makes it hard for the caregivers to cope up and give more care to this stressful event.
Some children manifest extreme feeling of anxiety more than other children do.
These children need additional care and even professional help when anxiety has affected their daily routine and functioning.
It is vital for the caregivers to take note of the changed behavior of their children.
To facilitate prompt treatment of condition, one must first know the signs and symptoms of child anxiety.
Common to this condition is bed wetting.
Anxious children may also experience nightmares or night terrors.
Too much stress on children is believed to be the cause of this symptom.
A child may also exhibit elusion from school or any social activity due to extreme fear.
This behavior may cause difficulty of making friends and being overly shy.
Some overly anxious children may show compulsiveness.
Their self-esteem may be low.
And one of the strangest behaviors they may exhibit is that of recurrent physical symptoms like headache, stomach ache, pains on certain parts of the extremities without any known cause.
Overly anxious children need a patient and more structured approach to desensitize them of their fear or anything that may cause extreme anxiety.
Let the child know that you are always by her side and encourage the child to share his/her thoughts and emotions.
If at first the child refuses to talk, offer comfort and distractions like offering his/her favorite toy.
In this way the child is not forced to do what he/she doesn't want to do.
At the same time, the child's energy will be spent for playing and not on being anxious.
If the child seems to be bored at home, try offering him a walk in the park or anywhere he likes to go.
This makes the child comfortable with his surroundings.
Above all, keep the child healthy.
Offer him the right plate every meal.
Health is crucial in this condition as this may affect his brain and physical activity, and mood.
Provide him/her nutritious foods and allow sufficient rest and sleep.
Child anxiety is not that big of a problem.
What these children need is a 24/7 care and attention.
This problem should be dealt the moment it is recognized.
The earlier the conditioning starts, the better the prognosis.
