How to Remove a Shortcut in Windows XP
- 1). Navigate to the location where the shortcut is saved, such as the desktop or the "My Documents" folder.
- 2). Right-click the shortcut's icon and select "Delete" in the pop-up menu.
- 3). Click "Delete Shortcut" in the new window that appears. Right-click the recycle bin and select "Empty Recycle Bin" to permanently erase the shortcut.
- 1). Open the Start menu and choose "Control Panel." Click "Switch to Category View" if the Control Panel currently has the "Classic View" turned on.
- 2). Select "Appearance and Themes" and then click "Display." Navigate to the "Desktop" tab.
- 3). Click "Customize Desktop" and then "Clean Desktop Now." Click "Next" to access the list of shortcuts on your computer.
- 4). Remove the check mark next to any of the shortcuts you want to remove. Click "Next" and then "Finish" to remove those shortcuts.
