Soft Keys

• The term "soft keys," when applied to the A127, refers to the button in the upper left and the button in the upper right of your keypad. They are on each side of the directional pad--the big button with four small arrows on it--and each of these keys is marked with a short vertical line. The functions of these buttons varies, and the current function of each key is listed at the bottom of the phone's screen on the left and right sides, above the soft key that corresponds with it. Knowing what these keys are and how to use them is vital to finding your way around the A127's features.
  
  

Creating a Text Message

• To create a text message, starting from the main screen, press the soft key that currently says "Menu" above it. Now, using the arrows on the large directional pad mentioned earlier, navigate to "Messaging" and press the soft key that currently has the word "Select" above it. Then, using the up and down keys on the directional pad, highlight "Text Message" and press the "Select" soft key again. Finally, highlight "Create New Message" and press the "Select" soft key one more time. This will lead you to a blank screen, and you are ready to type your message.
  
  

T9 Mode and Sending a Message

• There are many ways to input text into the Samsung A127, but the quickest method is probably T9. T9 uses a built-in electronic dictionary to predict which words you want to type. Simply press the number key that displays the letter you want to type on it just above the number, and continue until you have spelled out your word. Press each key once, and T9 will predict which word you were intending to type. Most of the time, the correct word displays, but if not, press the bottom middle key until the correct word displays. To tell if you are in T9 mode, look on your screen at the bottom right corner where a small box should read "T9." If the box displays something else, press the right-side soft key until "T9" appears. If you ever find that the text input mode has changed to something else, simply repeat this procedure of pressing the right soft key to get your Samsung A127 to stay in T9.
  
  Once your message is complete, press the "Options" soft key and select "Send." Enter the phone number you'd like to send the message to or select it from your address book, select "Options" again and press "Send."
