How to Inflate Your Car Tires for Summer
- 1). Place your pressure gauge on top of the air nozzle and press down. You will be able to read the pressure level in PSI (pounds per square inch).
- 2). Inflate your tires using an air pump. As you inflate, periodically check the pressure with your gauge to ensure that you don't exceed the recommended PSI.
- 3). Leave room for heat pressure. The summer heat causes one extra pound of pressure for every 10 degrees Fahrenheit. If your recommended tire pressure is 39 PSI, then, and the temperature is supposed to be 90 degrees, you should only inflate your tires to 30 PSI. This leaves room for an extra 9 lbs. of heat pressure.
