    Hookah Bars

    • An extension of Indian and Middle Eastern culture, a hookah bar is a lounge that sells shisha or flavored tobacco from a communal hookah. Most hookah bars in Manhattan are concentrated in the Lower East Side or Alphabet City, though a few are located in Brooklyn and Queens. In addition to serving cocktails and appetizers, hookah lounges give patrons the opportunity to socialize and smoke hookah flavors ranging from jasmine and watermelon, to vanilla and pineapple. Some hookah bars, such as Cozy Cafe Hookah Lounge in the Lower Eastside, give live belly-dancing performances.
