Do Geraniums Need Full Sun?
- Most geraniums need as much sunlight as possible. Light promotes an abundance of bushy growth and the greatest number of flowers. If a geranium does not receive sufficient light, stalks become tall and spindly, with fewer leaves and flowers.
- Regal geraniums, sometimes known as Martha Washington geraniums, need consistent light for growth and flower development. However, in some situations, especially greenhouse environments, the regals should be kept in indirect light while they are in bloom.
- It is better to water sparingly than to provide too much water to geraniums. Water when the top of the soil feels dry to the touch. Feeding frequency should be tied to watering frequency. If you water once a week, feed every six weeks. If you water every day, feed once a week.
