Installation Instructions on GAF Camelot 30
- 1). Spread out a layer of No. 15 felt underlayment beginning at the bottom corner of the roof. Hammer it into place with roofing nails spaced out every 8 inches. Cut the felt off at the end of the first row with a utility knife and overlap the second layer by 4 inches. Continue until the entire roof is covered with roofing felt.
- 2). Lay the first starter strip shingle at the bottom corner of the roof with a 1/4-inch overhang. Space out four roofing nails near the top of the starter strip shingle and hammer them into place. Butt the second starter strip shingle up to the first and install it across the entire eave of the roof.
- 3). Install the first row of shingles directly over of the starter strips just like you installed the starter strips. Hammer in four equally spaced roofing nails into each shingle and continue down the eave of the roof until the first row is complete.
- 4). Cut off 4 5/16 inches from the first shingle of the second row and install it over the first shingle so the lower edge of the bottom shingle is flush with the bottom of the shingle in the second row. Install full shingles down the rest of the second row.
- 5). Cut 8 5/8 inches off the first shingle of the third row with the utility knife and install it just like the previous rows. Trim the first shingle of the fourth row in half and install the remaining shingles of the row the same way. Install the fifth row just like the first row and continue in the same pattern for all of the remaining rows until you reach the top of the roof.
- 6). Install hip and ridge shingles at the top of the roof. Overlap the shingles on both sides of the ridge beginning at any side. Hammer the hip and ridge shingles in place all the way down the ridge until it is completely covered.
