Hemlock - Bleed The Dream
About.com Rating
When I was looking at the track listing for Hemlock's debut CD, I saw the song "Jacob's Ladder." I was praying it wasn't a remake of the Huey Lewis and The News song from the '80s, and thank goodness it's not.
Bleed The Dream is catchy and crunchy metallic hardcore in the vein of groups like Hatebreed. The Las Vegas band combines heavy riffs with groove and a lot of melody. It's brutal, yet very accessible and memorable.
The vocals are the standard hardcore yelling with group shoutalongs. There are also some melodic vocals for a change of pace.
Hemlock are a pleasant surprise, and this album surpassed my expectations. There are only a couple of mediocre songs and the rest are pretty decent.
