44
    • 1). Raise the wheel with the floor jack and place the frame rail onto a jack stand. The stand should not be positioned on the suspension or engine mounts.

    • 2). Remove the wheel by turning the lug nuts in a counterclockwise direction. Set the wheel aside, away from the vehicle.

    • 3). Remove the caliper by turning the rear caliper mount bolts in a counterclockwise direction. The caliper should slide off of the rotor.

    • 4). Take the brake pads out of the caliper by pulling on them, then replace the pads with fresh units. The caliper pistons will attempt to push the pads in slowly, and can be chocked with a piece of wood or tool until the new pads are ready to be mounted.

    • 5). Replace the caliper with the new pads by sliding it onto the rotor and turning the twin mount bolts clockwise.

    • 6). Replace the wheel by turning the lug nuts clockwise, in an alternating pattern.

    • 7). Lower the Freelander from the jack stand with the floor jack.

    • 8). Repeat steps 1 through 7 on the remaining brakes.
