How to Mount a Tire
- 1). Place the wheel rim on a flat, solid surface. Ideally, you might have some kind of dowel that could hold the wheel firmly in place.
- 2). Lubricate one of the inside edges of the tire. This can be done with something as simple as soapy water.
- 3). Set the tire on top of the wheel rim with the lubricated edge facing down.
- 4). Wedge one of the crowbars between the wheel rim and the lubricated tire edge.
- 5). With the other crowbar, force the rest of the lubricated tire edge over the wheel in a circular motion around the rim.
- 6). Use the rubber mallet to help the tire edge move into place if you encounter difficult spots.
- 7). When the first tire edge is successfully mounted, repeat steps two through six on the remaining tire edge.
- 8). Employ the air pump to inflate the tire.
