How to Stop Random Talking on a Computer
- 1). Restart your computer to verify that the sounds were not a glitch or error in one of your previously open Web browser windows or programs.
- 2). Turn up your computer's volume manually at the speakers or by changing your computer's sound settings. This allows you to clearly hear any sounds coming from the computer.
- 3). Note the exact sounds, what applications you're using when they occur and the time they occur. Write down what the noises and talking sound like or are saying.
- 4). Press "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" to prompt your Windows Task Manager to pop up. This will show you all the open applications and processes running on the computer.
- 5). Scroll through the "Applications" tab of the Task Manager window and close any programs you believe might have talking sounds and any programs with which you are unfamiliar.
- 6). Click the "Processes" tab on the Task Manager's window and scroll to view any unfamiliar processes or programs running. Highlight any task you want to stop and press "End Task" in the Task Manager window.
- 7). Open your computer's virus or spyware software and scan your computer's entire hard drive for any alerts or intrusions on your PC. If your computer has malware, spyware or a virus--such as a Trojan or a computer worm--that might be taking up space or causing the unwanted talking or sounds on the computer.
