SEO Tips - Mistakes That Guarantee Your Site Will Fail at Google

24
Don't Make These SEO Mistakes Many sites don't succeed at Google and other search engines because of basic SEO mistakes.
During 10 years working in SEO, I often come across "professionally designed" sites that look good, but whose design ensures they won't get a high ranking in search engine results.
These design faults can prevent pages from being indexed at all, or knock your pages down the rankings for the keywords you are targeting.
Don't make these basic mistakes if your want your site pages to succeed in Google results.
1.
Don'tKeyword stuff your page titles - don't use more than 10 words or repeat several words more than once.
2.
Don'tStuff your page content - Don't use your keywords in a heavy handed, unnatural sounding way.
Read your pages out loud.
If they don't sound natural, rewrite.
3.
Don't create generated URL's with lots of stop characters:? + = and especially =id.
More than 2 or 3 of these will prevent search engines from indexing your pages.
4.
Don't use pages designed with frames.
Frame based pages aren't indexed properly.
The resulting links in the search results will send users to a page fragment, and not to your actual page.
5.
Don'tdesign pages completely in FLASH, without actual text.
FLASH indexing is still in its infancy at the search engines.
Indexing of FLASH is partial at best.
6.
Don'tinsert your main keywords as on page graphics, but not as actual text.
Search engines don't index your graphics, even if they appear to be text to the web surfer.
7.
Don't use links written in scripts that Google doesn't index.
Standard HTML links work best.
Remember, Java script links may not be read by search engine spiders.
8.
Don'tforget a page title tag.
Page title tags are important.
You'd be surprised how many pages are written without content in the title tag.
9.
Don't use repetitive page title tags instead of unique titles.
If you use web templates, don't let your web design software generate an identical title for each page.
10.
Don'tcreate multiple pages with identical or nearly identical content.
Google hates duplicate content - it wastes resources.
Pages seen as duplicates are marked down in the Google results, or not indexed at all.
