Things to Do on a Date in San Francisco

49

    An Enlivening Wharf Experience

    • Some of the best dates are those that provide insight into the person with whom you've chosen to share your time. Sometimes, that insight occurs at unexpected locales when two people share an experience of learning something new together. Couples can learn about the process of making sourdough bread--something San Francisco is known for--at the Boudin Demonstration Bakery. Located on Jefferson Street in the historic Fisherman's Wharf, the Bakery is both a place to enjoy a fresh-baked loaf of sourdough bread and also the site of an interesting museum explaining how the bread is made. The museum is located upstairs and is free. An exhibit explains San Francisco's connection to the Boudin Bread Company's sourdough, while an observation deck gives visitors an eagle-eye view of the bread-making process and the activity going on outside on Jefferson Street.

    A Romantic Evening Out

    • San Francisco isn't known for being a cheap city to live in and visit, but couples looking for a romantic date can splurge on exquisitely prepared soufles and homemade soup at one of the city's most romantic restaurants--Cafe Jacqueline--and save on after dinner entertainment by enjoying stunning views of the city from the de Young Museum's tower.

Cafe Jacqueline is on Grant Street in the Telegraph Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. Here, couples are greeted with a red rose and enjoy intimate conversation in the serene environment. Afterward, couples can visit the de Young Museum and climb its tower to enjoy a 144-foot high view of the city below. While there is an admission fee for the museum, it is free to climb to the top of its scenic tower overlooking the Bay Area.

    A Relaxing Morning Tour

    • Enjoy an early morning date by starting things off with a cup of freshly roasted coffee at Caffe Greco on Columbus Avenue. Couples can enjoy tiramisu and people-watching at Caffe Greco, which will make for a lively and amusing date. After perusing the paper and the crowds passing by, take a stroll together along the Golden Gate Promenade and Crissy Field. Couples can stop to feel the sand between their toes, watch boats glide along the Bay, take in the magnitude of the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoy fresh, saltwater air. Afterward, couples can take a drive across the bridge and enjoy lunch in the scenic city of Sausalito. The Yee Tock Chee Park provides excellent views of San Francisco and the elegant victorian neighborhoods make great grounds for walking together.
