How to Use a TomTom 730
- 1). Power on your TomTom by pressing and holding the On/Off button for two seconds. If this is the first time you're using your GPS, it may take a moment to start. The On/Off button is found on the top of the device.
- 2). Configure your TomTom by answering a few setup questions, such as the language you want your GPS to use. Tap your responses with your finger. After setup, your GPS will be in "Driving View."
- 3). Explore "Driving View." You will be shown your current position and major roads and intersections ahead. Tap "+" and "-" to zoom in and out.
- 4). Plan a destination by tapping "Main Menu." Click "Navigate to," and then tap "Address." Choose "Street and House Number," and type an address. After typing a street address, select the name of the town from the auto-complete menu that appears, and click "Done." The IQ Routes feature of your GPS plans the best route, using information about speed limits and traffic.
- 5). Find an alternative route to your main destination by tapping "Find Alternative" in the main menu. Use this feature to avoid road blocks, or use the "Travel Via..." feature to stop at another location on the way. Also use "Find Alternative" to recalculate your route to avoid traffic jams as much as possible.
- 6). Add a "Favorite" route by tapping "Add Favorite" on the main menu. Select a location you visit frequently, and use this feature so you don't have to type an address every time you use this location. Navigate to a favorite by tapping "Navigate To," and then "Favorite." Select your destination from the list, and then click "Done."
- 7). Browse a map by clicking "Browse Map" from the main menu. Move the map around by sliding your fingers across the GPS screen. Zoom in or out by using the slide bar to the right of the map screen.
