Why Are Search Engines Important For Your Website?

59
Why do we use search engines for our websites? Google, Yahoo, Bing and other smallersites, are responsible for the most important source of new visitors to your website.
You might have heard that most website visits stem from search engines.
This unfortunately is not entirely true.
This was true a few years back and many people continue to use those statistics because they provide the perfect representation of what we want to see.
It used to be said that 80 percent of all visits came from search engines.
But back around 2003, research had proven otherwise.
That research had shown less than 50 percent of visits came from search engines.
The studies had shown that most people visited a website by either typing in the URL, or by clicking through links from other web pages.
Therefore, most visitors did not use a search engine to get directly to the website.
But as you will find with recent research, Google is still extremely important.
Even if only 30% of visits came from Google, that is still a massive amount of traffic.
Even though the visits from Google may represent a small percentage, a large percentage of visits will be revisits to your site.
Basically we could call it repeat business in terms of revisits.
There have been studies to suggest that over 80 percent of shoppers will start at a search engine, whether to make a purchase or get information on a product.
If you're starting a website or currently have a website, Google, Yahoo, and Bing area great way to get free traffic.
It is definitely a lot cheaper than most of the paid advertising.
