How to Use Oil Paint Cleaner
- 1). Put on a pair of rubber chemical gloves. Open the container of cleaner and carefully pour 1 cup of the oil paint cleaner into an empty 5-gallon bucket.
- 2). Grab the handle of the paint brush and push the bristles into the bottom of the bucket, submerging the end of the brush in the oil paint cleaner. Apply pressure to work the cleaner throughout the entire brush. The cleaner will effectively remove the oil paint from your brush.
- 3). Push a wire brush through the entire length of the paint brush bristles. The wire brush removes any gummy bits of oil paint from deep inside the brush and keeps the bristles straight and untangled.
- 4). Lower the paint brush halfway into the bucket of oil paint cleaner. Grip the paint brush handle in between both palms of your hands, with the bristles facing toward the bottom of the bucket. Twist the brush handle back and forth to shake out any leftover cleaner or residue from the brush.
- 1). Wear a pair of protective gloves designed for handling solvent-based paint cleaner.
- 2). Pour approximately 1/2 cup of oil paint cleaner over the paint drops on the concrete surface. Allow the cleaner to penetrate the paint. Follow the recommendation on the container concerning the waiting period before proceeding.
- 3). Rub a nylon scrub brush back and forth over the paint stain. Avoid using a metal scraper or brush. Friction from a metal scraper deposits metal fragments into the concrete, which can develop into rust. Metal scrapers also leave permanent scratch marks on concrete.
- 4). Inspect the concrete after the cleaner evaporates and reapply additional paint cleaner if oil paint stains still exist.
