1. The Maryland Historical Society, the oldest continuously operating historical society in Maryland, offers 2,200 paintings, 4134 pieces of silver, 900 pieces of furniture, 10,750 textiles, 1,500 pieces of porcelain and pottery, 8,250 works of paper, 10,000 household objects, 2,500 toys and that only mentions part of the collection! 2. The Star Spangled Banner Flag House, the home of Mary Pickersgill, who made the flag that inspired the famous song by Francis Scott Key, with many objects from that period, some belonging to Mary's family and filled with furniture and objects of her period.
   
3. The Homewood Museum, a wedding gift from Charles Carroll, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, to his son Charles Carroll, Jr.
   The birthplace of John Lee Carroll, who became governor of Maryland, today, houses one of the most impressive museums in Maryland.

   The Battle of Baltimore took place September 13 - 14, 1814, during the Battle of 1812.
   As Key watched the Stars and Strips disappear and reappear through the evening, little did he know at the time that every time the banner dropped, the person holding it up paid with their lives?
7. The Walters Art Museum contains over 30,000 objects of art.
   It is one of the most prominent art museums in the world, not just Maryland.

8. The B & O Railroad Museum contains the history of this legendary railroad company.
   This fantastic museum is a child's paradise as it allows one to touch and learn about the most famous railroad in America.
   In the museum's gift shop, one can get all kinds of memorabilia.
