Your Dental Patients - Are You Losing Patients Because of Your Personality (Chair Side Manner?)
Are you losing dental patients because of your personality? Harsh question, huh? Just in case you know someone in this situation, perhaps someone you know very well, I thought I should ask.
I am sure you have all heard a story about a dentist who was extremely good technically and if you yourself wanted a complicated procedure performed you would go to them.
However their dental practice was not doing well.
On the other hand there is the extremely personable dentist who is not as technically proficient but his practice is much more lucrative! Here are 4 tips to make sure your dental practice is the one that thrives Tip #1: Ask your patients how are they doing and then take the time to actually listen to them.
Respond to what they're saying.
That skill of listening to your patients is critical.
You want them to understand that you truly do care about them as a patient.
Tip #2: Take notes on your patients after they've left your dental practice and put the notes in their file.
Do they have children, a dog? Do they love to travel, do they love sports.
Have they mentioned their hobbies?.
Ask specific questions regarding your patient, write their answers down.
You are not going to remember them because you have so many patients.
Write them down in their file, so that next time they come in, you can take a quick glance at the file and ask them how's your son doing, how was your last tennis game? You can ask those specific questions when you have those notes written down in each patient file.
Tip #3: Send out a thank you card, a gift, anything.
Set up a schedule so that after a patient has come in for a procedure, you send out a postcard, a thank you card.
You can send out what's also known as a WOW package, the first time someone signs up as a patient and comes to visit.
In your WOW package, you can include all sorts of little things; they don't have to be dental related.
What do your current patients like? Include those types of small items in your WOW package.
Tip #4: Most important: Remember to smile at your patients.
They are there to maintain their beautiful smile and you definitely want to show your smile to them.
Remember to smile and the important piece to that smile to make sure that it's real, is it's gotta reach the eyes.
So, if your crow's feet are showing, your smile is genuine.
A fake smile can be spotted a mile away! You want to make sure that your patients get that sense that you really, truly do care.
That is how you will maintain more of your current patients.
Letting them know that you truly care.
