How to Fix Car Windshield Wipers
- 1). Turn on the wipers. If the wipers appear to work normally, you likely need new wiper blades. Purchase new wiper blades. Pull one wiper up off the windshield as high as it can go.
- 2). Find and release the clip on the wiper blade. Pull the entire wiper blade off. Slide the new wiper blade onto the arm. Clip it into place. You will hear the wiper blade click when it is secure.
- 3). Return the wiper to the original position along the windshield. Repeat with the other wiper. Turn on the windshield wipers to test them.
- 1). If only one arm is working, pull the wiper that does not work into an upright position. Pull up the cover at the base of the wiper arm to reveal the bolt holding it on.
- 2). Use a wrench to remove the bolt. Pull the entire wiper arm and blade off of the base.
- 3). Use an exacto knife and clean out the aluminum buildup between each groove on the shaft. Replace the wiper arm and screw the bolt back on with the wrench. Turn on the windshield wipers to test them.
