It's no secret that every up & coming producer around the globe is probably looking for an established industry manager.
As a producer, I'm sure most of you really just want to sit back and make the music and let someone else deal with contracts, negotiations and all that other business that comes into play when it's time to sell beats or even songs.
So, welcome to our Tip Series on Finding A Producer Manager or Management Team.
We've been working with producers since 2002 so trust and believe we have some opinions as it relates to this matter.
In addition, we will feature some tips from other qualified industry professionals who can provide insight as well.
Here's Dynamic Producer's Tip 1 For Finding A Producer Manager or Management Team "When looking for an "industry grade" manager, you have to BE where the producer managers or industry management teams are! If you live in Omaha, NE (and no disrespect, lol), you might have to start traveling.
Producer Managers are often found at networking events such as music conferences, festivals and seminars that occur throughout the US.
But, if you don't have the means to do that, I've got just the thing.
Next time your favorite artist comes to town for a concert--STRATEGIZE.
Some producer managers also represent recording artists.
Do your research and find out which producer managers also rep artists.
And when touring, managers sometimes travel with their artists who can typically be found at radio stations, nightclubs, local hot spots, venues (especially during soundcheck) and if it's a man-he may be at the area strip club! Now granted, you want to think about your approach overall and how it may need to vary based on the environment, but this is what makes the grind so fun.
Besides that, you may run into an artist direct which may be even better.
But always remember, even if you run into an artist and exchange information, always ask the artist who their manager is so that you have that information too.
Artists are known to change phone numbers and drift off into that creative land where they can become missing in action.
So in summary, do you research, attend music industry events, work your own city and most importantly--Strategize!
