How to Change the Spark Module on a Gas Cooktop for the GE JGP328BEJ1BB
- 1). Turn off the gas valve that supplies gas to your GE gas cooktop.
- 2). Lift all of the burner grates, burner caps and burner heads off the cooktop.
- 3). Slide a flat-head screwdriver between the burner’s base and the igniter. Pop the igniter out of the burner’s base by lifting it out. Repeat for all of the igniters.
- 4). Unscrew the two Torx screws along each of the burner bases by using a Torx screwdriver.
- 5). Lift the burner bases and graphite gaskets off the cooktop. The graphite gaskets are located directly under the burner bases. Use caution with the graphite gaskets, as they can break.
- 6). Grasp onto the burner knobs, and pull up to remove them.
- 7). Lift up the top of the cooktop and set it aside.
- 8). Pull out any insulation material that is under the top. You can lift the insulation out with ease, as it is not attached to anything.
- 9). View the spark module at the back right side of the cooktop, and make a note of the wires and their placement.
- 10
Unplug the wires from the spark module by pulling them out. Unscrew the two screws that hold the module in place. - 11
Remove the old spark module and insert the new module. - 12

Reverse the steps to put the cooktop back together.
