How to Make a Symbolic Flower Wreath
- 1). Place the floral form wreath in a bucket or sink that is filled with room temperature water. Let the wreath ring soak until it is filled with water. Place the wreath form onto a flat work surface.
- 2). Cut a lily stem about 4 inches from the bottom of the blossom with a sharp knife. Cut the stem on a slant with the knife pointing away from you.
- 3). Insert the lily stem into the foam until the blossom is nearly flush against the foam. Cut the remaining lily blossoms and insert them into the foam at intervals of 3 to 4 inches apart. You can stagger the blossoms from the center of the foam to the outside of the ring as you fill in the top surface of the foam.
- 4). Cut small filler flowers such as roses, alstroemeria or daisies at 4-inch lengths. You can use any flower that shares the symbolism theme of the lily blossoms. For example, a red and white rose combination stands for unity, while a white rose bud is the symbol of girlhood. All will combine for a bridal theme.
- 5). Insert the small flower blossoms into the foam here and there between the lily blossoms.
- 6). Cut short pieces of baby's breath and insert them in between the flower blossoms. The pieces should be no longer than the height of the lily blossoms. Check for any empty spaces in the wreath form, and fill them with small flowers or sprigs of baby's breath. View the wreath from several angles to be sure there are no empty gaps with visible foam.
