Dangerous Molds

• Black molds are considered some of the more dangerous mold types. Toxic black molds such as Stachybotrys and Aspergillus-Niger can cause negative effects to health, including allergies, fatigue or other respiratory reactions. Individuals who have asthma or may be allergic can have more serious reactions.
  
  It is important to understand that even ordinary simple molds can affect health if the growth levels are high enough. This is why mold growth has to be a consideration when assessing mold growth as a problem.
  
  

CDC Warning

• The Centers for Disease Control states that it is not necessary to identify the type of mold present. This is because the most common side-effects of mold growth are allergies. Also, individual susceptibility to mold can vary, especially when considering the amount of mold present. This is why there are no standards for acceptable levels of mold. The CDC recommends any mold present be removed and prevented from returning.
  
  

Mold Climate

• Knowing how mold develops can aid in its eradication and prevention. Mold and mildew grow best in warm, most and shady environments. This is why bathrooms offer ideal conditions for mold to form. Any area of the home that has a high relative humidity is subject to mold growth.
  
  

Surface Mold

• Surface mold, as the name implies, is any mold that is found growing on top of another object or surface.
  
  

Airborne Mold

• Mold can be present in the air. This happens through the release of tiny spores. These spores can grow new mold colonies if they come in contact with water or moisture.
  
  

Mold Removal

• A number of chemicals can kill surface mold. Killing surface mold will prevent spores from spreading into the air. But to kill mold, you need to first eliminate the reason for its growth. Reducing the relative humidity levels in your home through the use of fans or air conditioning will greatly help. Once the moisture levels are controlled, you can apply chlorine or oxygen bleach to surface molds. Rubbing alcohol, white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide will also work.
