Alaska, also known as The Last Frontier, is vast, wild and rugged and with opportunities for hunting moose, caribou or Dall sheep or fishing for salmon and halibut. Out-of-state hunters heading to Alaska for big game need to have a licensed and registered Alaska guide for hunts. Anglers heading to the waters of Alaska can dip into local knowledge to enhance fishing trips by staying with fishing lodges or hiring fishing-charters or guides. Talk with charter operations and hunting guides about securing the proper licenses for your hunting or fishing excursion. - The High-liner Lodge is in southeast Alaska, also known as the panhandle. You can fish for five different species of salmon (chum, sockeye, king, silver and pinks,) or halibut with High-liner. All fishing gear--tackle, bait, ice and coolers and use of foul weather gear--is included with charter fees. The High-liner owners also operate a wilderness lodge where you can stay and refresh for another day on the water. Sightings of orcas, humpback whales, harbor and Dall's porpoise and sea lions are typical during fishing charters.
