Ways to Keep a Community Beautiful

10

    Trash

    • Never litter. Always live by that mantra and you shouldn't have a problem saving trash for a rubbish bin. If you see someone litter, pick up their trash behind them or encourage that person not to litter. We all see trash on the ground when we're out and about. If you happen to, pick it up and throw it out -- even if it's not yours.

    Paint

    • Freshly painted spaces spruce up a community in an instant. No matter what colors you and your community members choose, fresh paint is a quick way to make an old space new again. Also, fresh paint covers up scratches and other unsightly marks like graffiti, which is increasingly becoming more of a problem in urban areas.

    Assist

    • Help those in your community who can't do for themselves. Elderly people, for instance, may want to maintain their yard or personal area, but they may not have the means to do so. Pitch in when you are able to help a neighbor like this. Think outside the box. Maybe a new mother or a single dad might need help if they've got too many other responsibilities.

    Garden

    • Set aside time to garden. Regularly pull weeds in your garden, trim the bushes and prune the trees. Consistent maintenance can help a garden flourish and look beautiful at the same time. Try planting colorful blooms to brighten an area, or vivid greens to make a landscape look lush. Edible plants like peppers also help add to the uniqueness and beauty of a community garden.

    Educate

    • Educate others in your community about ways to keep the area beautiful. Use what you know and what appeals to you about your community. Think about what's unique in your hometown and work to preserve that. Solicit feedback from friends, family and neighbors on ways they think they can help keep your community beautiful. Then, take that knowledge and pass it on. Help inspire pride in your community.
