How to Adjust the Pull of a Compound Bow
- 1). Use a hex wrench to loosen the set screws or pocket-locking screws on each side of the pocket. Do this by turning the screws four to five turns counterclockwise.
- 2). Adjust the draw weight by turning the top weight adjustment bolt clockwise to increase the weight and counterclockwise to decrease it. Make note of how much you turn it. Some types of bows require a hex wrench to make this adjustment.
- 3). Adjust the bottom weight adjustment bolt in the same fashion, turning it the same number of turns as the top adjustment bolt.
- 4). Test the pull or draw weight by drawing the string back and determining if it's a comfortable weight. Keep holding on to the string and return it to the undrawn position. Make further adjustments as necessary.
- 5). Tighten the set or pocket screws.
