How to Remove Plaque, Prevent Gum Disease
- 1). Begin by brushing your teeth. Place a small amount of toothpaste on your toothbrush. Using a circular motion, massage the toothbrush across all surfaces of your teeth. Continue brushing for at least three minutes. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water when done. Brush your teeth at least two to three times a day.
- 2). Floss your teeth next. Wrap a piece of floss around your middle fingers. Guide the floss between the proximal surfaces of adjacent teeth using the tips of your pointer fingers. Make sure to move the floss up and down as it wraps around the sides of each tooth. Continue this process until every tooth has been cleaned. Repeat this step daily.
- 3). Use a dental pick after meals to remove excess food particles. You may purchase these at your local drug store.
