How to Grind Meat for Sausage
- 1). Purchase the desired meat from your local grocery store.
- 2). Remove bones from the meat. Use a knife to cut out the bones. Try to save as much of the actual meat as possible during this process.
- 3). Cut the meat into thin strips.
- 4). Remove glands from the meat. Not all purchased meat will have glands to remove, but some cuts, such as rump roasts, will need to have glands removed before grinding.
- 5). Place the strips of meat either in a bowl, on a plate or in a plastic bag. Put the meat strips in the freezer for half an hour. It is important to chill the meat until it is cold but not frozen.
- 6). Setup your meat grinder. If you need help with this process, refer to the instructions that were included with the grinder.
- 7). Place the meat in the grinder and turn it out. Grind each strip of meat until you have the final product. Work as quickly as possible to ensure the meat stays cold.
