Instructions for WinFax
- 1). Insert the disk that came with your WinFax materials. Your computer will recognize the disk and automatically ask if you would like to begin installing the WinFax software onto your computer. Select the "Install" button and follow the prompts of the auto install program. Once the installation is complete you will need to restart your computer before running the software.
- 2). Click on the WinFax icon that now appears on your computer's desktop. You will now complete the initial set-up of the program before you begin using it. WinFax will ask you for your fax number and phone number. These numbers may be the same depending on the number of phone lines you have at your home or business. After the initial installation is complete you will be prompted to restart your computer again before you can begin using the program.
- 3). Open any file, picture or other document that you desire to fax through your computer. Select the print option in the software program that opened the file. The print menu will show the printer the document is scheduled to print to and have a small arrow to the right of the printer name. Click on the arrow to pull down a menu of available printers. One of the printer options will now be "WinFax." Select that option and print the document.
- 4). Complete the information on the WinFax program screen that pops up after you choose print. The screen will want to know the phone number you are faxing to, the name of the person or company who is receiving the fax and any subject that you want to add to the fax cover sheet.
- 5). Select the "Send" icon at the bottom of the WinFax program screen after you complete the details of the fax cover sheet. The WinFax program will then send the faxed document to the number you provided to it.
- 6). Open the WinFax program by clicking on the WinFax desktop icon when you start your computer to check and see if you have received any faxes. The software will receive the fax only if your computer is running and the WinFax software is open on your computer. Leave the software running in the background throughout the day to ensure that you do not miss any faxes sent to you.
