Farm bulletin board ideas can be bright and colorful or rustic and charming. Bulletin boards make interesting venues to showcase your creativity and to highlight different subjects. Whatever route you choose to take with your farm bulletin board design, you are sure to have a ton of fun putting it together and your students will enjoy learning from it.

    Barn Doors

Take two large pieces of corrugated card board and paint them red. Measure three pieces of 3 inch wide poster board to form a "Z" on each door. Score and crease the edge of each door so that when you screw (use small screws so you don't damage the board or wall) the doors in place they will open and close easily. Behind the doors draw and color pictures of animals and tools that are kept in a barn. A hay loft and a few easy to draw farm animals work well. Instead of two large barn doors use poster board to make several small doors that can be opened and closed. Place photos of various animals behind each door. Spell the names of the animals on the inside of the doors. These doors will provide entertainment for small children as they learn to spell.

Place objects found on farms around the bulletin board. Hang a small piece of chicken coop wire on the bulletin board and glue hay and hollowed eggs to it. Display things that are grown on farms like barley, wheat, cotton and corn husks. A horse shoe and piece of rope work nicely in an upper corner. Hang a toy bucket of feed from a lower corner of the board.

    Scenery

    • Provide scenery of a farm on the bulletin board, then engage the children in lessons about farming. Working in pairs, let the children draw and color what they think they would find on a farm, then include their items on the bulletin board over the background scenery.

    Vocabulary Words

    • Write vocabulary words pertaining to farming in bold letters on the bulletin board. Place pockets made from Manila folders beneath each word. In the pockets place pictures describing the word. The pictures allow the children to associate the spelling of the words with the pictures.

    Crossword Puzzle

    • Make a large crossword puzzle on the bulletin board. In place of black spaces, use farm pictures. A way to keep this crossword fresh is to use Velcro stick-ons to attach letters in their proper squares. If you don't permanently attach the black trim, cut from poster board, you can even change the puzzle itself. Trim the board in hay and toy farm animals.
