How to Troubleshoot iTunes in Task Manager
- 1). Right-click on the Windows taskbar on the bottom of your screen.
- 2). Click "Task Manager."
- 3). Click "Applications" and check iTunes' status in the "Status" column. If the program's status is "Not Responding," the program is frozen and you will have to close it. Click on its listing and click "End Task" to close iTunes.
- 4). Click "Processes" and check iTunes' memory usage in the "Memory" column. This will tell you how much memory iTunes is using during operation. If iTunes is using an unusually high amount of memory (over 100,000 bytes or so) then the program is using too much memory due to an error and will have to be closed. Click on its listing and click "End Task" to close iTunes.
- 5). Click "Performance." If your "CPU Usage" or "Memory" bar graphs read 100 percent, all of your computer's available memory is being used by other programs, which is causing your issues with iTunes. Close other programs that are open on your computer, which will free up memory for iTunes to use to operate normally.
