Control Fleas – Use Flea Traps to Control These Harmful Parasites without Harming the Environment

22
Flea traps are a fantastic way for you to see that you are making a positive impact in getting rid of fleas in your home. There is nothing more distressing than seeing your animal or home infested with these nasty little parasites and the sooner you can deal with them the better.

So, I think that hard hitting is the best form of attack to really make sure that you get them gone for good. They are pretty resilient for something so small and as such can be tricky to deal with if you do not have the correct approach. But, with the right help and guidance you will soon have everything back to normal, no problems.

Using flea traps is perfect for controlling and monitoring any infestations because 1. You can actually see them in the trap and dead. 2. As time goes on you will see less and less of them in the trap which gives you peace of mind to know that you are winning the battle.

No fleas equals job done which, I promise will happen even though it might seem a million miles away when you are right in the middle of a plague of them.

Fleas are attracted to warm blooded vertebrates such as your dog, cat, rabbit and you too because ultimately, you and they mean dinner to these pesky critters. Once they have had their fill of blood (which is necessary for procreation) the adult female can begin to lay her eggs, usually between 45 to 50 per day and up to 600 in her life time.

Once the egg has been laid it goes through two more stages of larva and pupa and finally into a full grown adult.

So, in order to really put a spanner in the lifecycle and kill them off permanently you have to make sure that you 1. Destroy all of the full grown ones 2. Prevent further development of the eggs or larva. If you do one without the other you will struggle to get them gone because of the way the lifecycle works.

So, it is really imperative to be thorough, I cannot think of anything worse than seeing all your efforts go to waste just because you may have missed the odd flea, egg or larva.

By using a combination of powder, drops and a collar to treat your furry friends that will help them and putting any of their bedding through a hot cycle in your washing machine should take care of anything that maybe developing unseen there too. Do not forget your own bed linen if your pet prefers the comfort of your bed rather than their own.

Flea traps ensure that the adults are lured to what they think is a tasty meal and work on the principle of mimicking the warmth and vibration that animals or humans give off.

So, they are attracted to a nonexistent dinner never to be seen again, just brilliant. Especially, as apart from the little hopping horrors that they are meant to deal with, they pose no danger to you, your animals or surroundings either.
