This piece is very complex, and Janet carefully worked each side of the piece into its own vignette. On this view, Captain Jack is looking out to sea, and this side of the vignette is all about his life. Notice how little you need to suggest a dock, and how Janet carefully set the stone front of her lighthouse cottage away from the larger stone of the lighthouse on this side, using wany (rough) siding as an accent for both sets of stone finish.
