How do I Take off the Intake Manifold for a BMW 328 E46?
- 1). Park your car on a level surface and let the engine cool down completely. Disconnect the battery located in the trunk.
- 2). Remove the plastic air box attached to the intake manifold by using your metric wrenches to unscrew its three mounting points in the engine bay.
- 3). Use your flat-head screwdriver to loosen the bracket that holds the air intake hose to the metal intake manifold. Pull the air box out.
- 4). Disconnect the air sensor that is attached to the air box. Set the air box assembly aside.
- 5). Press into the circular metal plate that is on the inside of the intake manifold to pull the throttle cable off of the manifold.
- 6). Unplug the second air sensor that is attached to the top of the intake manifold's assembly.
- 7). Remove the two bolts that sit on both the left and right hand sides of the intake manifold using a metric Allen wrench.
- 8). Set the first piece of the metal intake manifold aside. Remove the four bolts that secure the second portion of the manifold to the engine.
- 9). Grasp the metal tube that remains connected to the engine and pull it directly out to complete the removal.
