Animal Transportation Act
- The Act's primary purpose is to ensure the safety of live animals. To this end, the Act makes it illegal for animals being transported to have inadequate food, water and rest for their trip.
- Any animal injured during transport or that falls ill during transport must be immediately separated from other animals and brought to a veterinarian. No animal may be knowingly transported in Finland if they are injured or ill.
- The Act is regulated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Individuals seeking to transport live animals must apply for authorization from the State Provincial Officer in the territory that the animal is originally being transported from.
