Installing a Roof Vent in a Popup Camper
- 1). Raise the camper to its full position; this method may vary model to model, but often includes a winch and pulleys that lift the roof into position.
- 2). Climb to the top of the roof with the ladder and place the vent on a spot that does not have any wires or other components along the underside.
- 3). Trace the outline of the vent on the roof with a marker or tape -- the outline needs to run along the vent itself, not the mounting flange with the screw holes -- and then remove the vent.
- 4). Trace the outline of the vent on the roof with a marker or tape -- the outline needs to run along the vent itself and not the mounting flange with the screw holes -- and then remove the vent.
- 5). Coat the edges of the hole with RV sealant using a caulking gun.
- 6). Insert the vent into the mounting hole and make sure the flange is flush with the roof. Drill holes into the roof where the flange's mounting holes are located.
- 7). Drill the vent's mounting screws into the holes.
