Prepare the Car

• Prepare the Corvette for header installation. Pull the car up onto a set of wheel ramps and put it in park. Set the emergency brake and disconnect the battery cables from the battery to prevent an accidental engine turnover. Place wooden blocks behind the rear wheels of the Corvette to chock the wheels and keep the car from rolling backward.
  
  

Remove the Old Headers

• Remove the old headers from the Corvette. Crawl under the car and find the stock manifold or headers leading to each side of the engine. Use a socket wrench to remove each of the mounting bolts surrounding each edge of the manifold. Disconnect each of the exhaust downpipes from the catalytic converters on each side and slide the manifolds out of the engine compartment.
  
  

Install the New Headers

• Install the shorty headers. Remove the old manifold gasket from the cylinder heads and install a new gasket in its place. Slide the new shorty headers in place on each side of the engine and install the mounting bolts. Slide the catalytic converters up onto the downpipes leading down from each set of headers and then install the connecting hardware on each downpipe.
