How to Obtain a Basic EKG Interpretation Certification
- 1). Learn basic knowledge in monitoring heart rate, common dysrhythmia (arrhythmia) and rhythm. Interpret EKG strips---wave form interpretation---on the electrocardiogram charts. Recognize the signs concerning non-threatening to dangerous or potentially life-threatening conditions.
- 2). Interpret symptoms of hemodynamic instability in relation to dysrhythmias. Be able to list the mechanisms where dysrhythmias appear and recognize basic arrhythmias.
- 3). Attend lecture sessions covering basic EKG interpretation concerning the relationship between mechanical and electrical contractions. Learn how to set up leads for 12-lead placement and telemetry, determine normal sinus rhythm and heart rate, and learn about the heart's conduction pathway.
