A Texas jury deliberated 15 minutes before returning a guilty verdict for Patrick "Booger Red" Kelly in the Mineola Swinger's Club case. Kelly was convicted of grooming children as young as 5 to perform sex shows for adults at the club.

The jury then voted to sentence the 41-year-old auto body shop employee to life in prison.

During the trial prosecutors claimed that Kelly helped others set up a "kindergarten" where young children were given what they called "silly pills" and taught to dance provocatively.


The pills were really powerful pain killers like Vicodin.

"Why is it that every child that comes into contact with him is broken?" prosecutor Joe Murphy asked the jury during closing arguments.

During the trial Kelly took the stand and testified that he had no knowledge of "silly pills" and never made children do any dancing. He also testified that he had never been to the Mineola Swinger's Club, a place members called "The Retreat."

Witnesses Deny Children Were Present

The defense called several witnesses who admitted to being members of the club, including the former manager of the club. They all admitted that swinger parties took place, they never saw any children in the building.

One woman testified that having children there would have been a violation of the rules of the club. She described the rules as: "First and foremost, no children. Second, no drugs. Third, no means no."

Kelly is the third defendant to be convicted in the case and sentenced to life. James Pittman and Shauntel Mayo were found guilty in earlier trials.

In all three cases, the jury deliberated for only minutes.

Three other defendants are awaiting trial.
