Home Business Prospecting: At The End of The Day Ask Yourself This Question

42
When I was getting my masters degree in counseling, one of the big things the professors kept banging into our heads was empathy.
Could we understand what the client was going through...
on a thinking and emotional level? Could we put ourselves in their place? And could we communicate that understanding to them? Could we make them feel comfortable enough with us so that could share the things that needed to be shared? Empathy.
Truth is, all of us look for it.
We look for it in friends, romantic partners, especially in people in call centers when we have a problem with our computers.
And we look for it in potential home business sponsors.
We all want someone who will help us reach our hopes and dreams.
We want someone we can relate to.
Someone who is real enough to understand us.
Who will take our dreams seriously.
And of course we all want someone who is good at what they do.
Someone who will show us the way, even as we do the work for ourselves.
We want to get good at building our home business.
But we want that sense someone is doing it right along with us...
who has been in our shoes.
Who can hold us accountable, but do it in a way that makes us feel challenged and inspired, not wrong and bad.
It's why most of us move away when someone promotes something that's "simple and easy.
" Or turnkey.
Or any of the other words that deep in our hearts, we know aren't true.
We know that person isn't being real with us.
It's not easy.
It takes work, and it takes changes to ourselves, sometimes on a deep level.
It's why those who succeed do really well.
We want someone to tell us that truth.
We crave it.
And we move closer to the people we identify with...
and who we want to be more like.
So if you're building a home business, you have to do the stuff.
You have to generate leads.
You have to pick your methods, and execute them.
You have to promote.
But at the end of the day, ask yourself this question...
Did I act like the person I would want to sponsor ME into a home business? Was I real? Did I speak like a salesperson? Or did I communicate in a way people understood? Did I really listen to what people want? Did I tell the truth? Did I challenge and inspire people the way I want to be challenged and inspired? And if I'm still working on the skills, did I introduce them to someone who has what I want to have soon? One way will make you seem like most other people: fantasy, pie in the sky, fake.
One way will make you seem like you're someone's best chance of building something wonderful...
Because you are.
