The Hard But Soft Look From Brushed Stainless Steel

12
Are you looking for a nice alternative to the traditional white plastic switches and sockets that you will find in many homes? After all for want of a better word they can look somewhat "Boring" can they not? So what are your alternatives, well if you start looking around, particularly online, you can now find a wide range of alternative materials that you can purchase switches and sockets in, such as wood effect switches and a wide range of metal finishes.
One that jumps out in particular amongst the metal finished switches and sockets is brushed stainless steel switches and sockets.
These are both tough and practical as well as looking extremely attractive, indeed unlike white plastic items they can add a real touch of designer flair to any room and convert what is an unappealing item to look at, into a feature of the room instead.
Maybe you are thinking "A metal socket - How safe is that when it comes to electricity?" Well it is just as safe as any plastic socket is.
Thanks to modern insulating materials there is absolutely no danger of you touching a metal switch or socket and getting an electric shock.
If anything brushed metal switches and sockets are safer than plastic ones as they are much tougher, whereas a plastic switch may crack if it suffers impact damage, a metal one will simply have a dent placed in it instead, but will not crack.
So in practice a brushed metal switch is actually safer than a plastic one is.
In addition all modern houses and apartments have to be fitted with a distribution board that features Residual Current Devices (RCD's), which in the event of any electrical problem cut the power out in milliseconds avoiding any possibility of you being electrocuted.
Brushed metal switches and sockets look great in just about any room as they look neutral in appearance and can thus fit in with a wide range of décor, meaning that you will not have to change any of your electrical fittings should you choose to redecorate your house at any point in the future.
Being made of metal they are tough, yet the brushed effect makes them soft to the touch and great to look at, and they can compliment light fittings should they also be made of metal.
They are relatively cheap to buy online and thus are well worth your consideration should you be considering replacing any or all of the switches and sockets in your home, and a great alternative to cheap looking white plastic.
