Do-It-Yourself Hurricane Window Film
- 1). Measure each window you intend to provide with hurricane film. In most cases, you want to install film on every window. Measure the height and width of each window.
- 2). Cut the first sheet of window film from the plastic sheet or window film. Set the window film against the window to ensure that it is the correct size.
- 3). Clean the window with a warm, soapy towel. Squeegee the excess water out of the window. Allow the window to air dry if there are any remaining water droplets.
- 4). Slide several pieces of double-sided tape over the corner of the window film. Set several pieces of double-sided tape in the center of the film. If you are using actual window film, do not add tape. Instead, remove the plastic that covers the adhesive side of your window. Push the film against the corner of the window until it attaches to the window.
- 5). Place long pieces of double-sided tape on the three remaining corners of the window film. Place at least two pieces of tape along each side or the corner. Push the film into place. If you are using actual window film, do not add tape.
- 6). Trim any excess window film with a razorblade.
- 7). Run the squeegee along the surface of the window to press the window film into the window.
