How to Part Hair for Two-Tone Color
- 1). Start your two-tone color process when you haven't shampooed in a couple of days. Hair color seems to stick to the hair shaft more effectively if the hair is dirty.
- 2). Use the comb to part the hair in a horizontal line around the center of your head. This is particularly stylish on hair that is medium length or longer. If you have a very short hairstyle, you may want to have the crown one color and the rest of your hair another shade.
- 3). Pin the hair with clips or use ponytail holders.
- 4). Apply the hair color to the top of the hair first, making sure not to get any of this color on the bottom portion.
- 5). Wrap the top of your head in plastic wrap or with a plastic cap, and then apply the second color to the bottom portion.
- 6). Set a timer, according to the package directions of your hair color.
- 7). Wash the color out of the lower portion of your hair when the timer goes off.
- 8). Remove the plastic wrap from the top portion of your hairstyle, and wash the color out according to the package directions.
- 9). Dry your hair, and style it as usual to enjoy your two-toned look.
