How Do I File a Petition to Get Off Parole in Texas?
- 1). Complete the Application for Commutation of Sentence for the Texas Board of Pardons & Paroles. Use blue or black ink. Refer to additional resources to access this application.
- 2). Contact the TDCJ-CID Records Office to obtain court certification for any documents related to your conviction. This includes the indictment, judgment and sentence, and TDCJ parole certificate.
- 3). Organize all arrest reports pertaining to your offense. Refer to additional resources for contact information if you are missing any reports.
- 4). Contact the prosecuting attorney, judge and chief of police who were involved in your case. Ask them for a written recommendation indicating that you have complied with the criteria for Commutation of Sentence. Refer to additional resources for the rules of eligibility.
