How to Adjust Water Pump Pressure
- 1). Turn off electricity. Any time you are working around electricity, especially around water, you need to turn it off.
- 2). Check the manual for your water tank to find out the specifications for your pressure switch. According to the Washington Department of Health, common pressure ranges are 40 to 60 psi or 30 to 60 psi.
- 3). Locate the two pressure adjustment screws using your manufacturer's manual. One will adjust the cut-in and cut-out, maintaining the gap between the two settings, and the other will adjust just the cut-out.
- 4). Turn the cut-in/cut-out screw with your screwdriver clockwise to raise the pressure. Or turn it counterclockwise to lower it. Turning the cut-out screw clockwise will raise the cut-off pressure and vice versa.
- 5). Turn on the electricity and test the water pressure. If the water pressure still needs adjusting, repeat steps.
