Bean Bag Games 101 - An Introduction

28
Bean bag games are simple and fun for all ages.
From children to adults, this simple contest is similar in concept to horseshoes where individuals or teams compete by taking turns tossing bean bags at their opponent's corn hole board.
Scores are tallied based on the number of times the bag makes it into one of the corn holes of your opponent's board.
Depending on which part of the country you happen to be in, there are different rules, scoring opportunities and styles of play.
These variations can provide different levels of challenge and ways to play the game.
Distance between the board pieces is also a factor to be considered when setting up the playing field.
Pieces can be placed between 15 and 30 feet, depending on the skill level of the players and house rules of the home based team.
Prior to playing, teams agree on scoring rules, definition of fouls and end of game number.
Once established, the game begins with an initial pitch by you or your partner to the other team's board.
Each person has 2 bags and takes a turn pitching them toward their opponent's corn hole.
If the bag lands on the board and does not make it into the hole, a single point can be scored for that team.
If the bag partially enters the hole but does not make it all the way in, then 2 points would be tallied.
A full bag entering the hole may constitute a full 3 points.
The first team that reaches 15 points will win with all associated bragging rights.
Play continues with rules being established and adjusted based on agreement from both teams.
Bean bag games can be played inside or outdoors depending on physical space and weather conditions.
Establish your own variation and have fun.
