Decorating a Chipboard Owl
- 1). Paint your chipboard owl. Use high-gloss acrylic paint to give it a shine or matte paint for a duller finish. Watercolor paints lend a softer look. Paint with colors like gray, brown or white for a realistic-looking owl or opt for something like pink, green or purple for an owl that resembles a cartoon. Select fine-tipped brushes for small details like the eyes, beak and claws and use a larger brush to cover big areas like the head and body.
- 2). Color the owl with crayons for a mess-free, child-friendly method of decorating. Encourage a child to create his or her own owl character while decorating, using colors and patterns of their choice.
- 3). Glue feathers onto the owl if the finished product will be on display and not enclosed in a scrapbook. Apply a thin layer of glue to the chipboard surface and stick feathers in a pattern. Glue googly eyes to the head and paint the beak yellow.
- 4). Apply ink to decorate your owl. Use different colors of ink to distinguish the details of the creature. Add fine details like feathers with a fine-tipped calligraphy pen.
- 5). Decorate your owl in a decoupage manner. Cut out pictures of feathers from a magazine. Glue the pictures to the surface of the owl, overlapping them to form a collage. Apply a final layer of glue to the top to seal it in place.
- 6). Create a colorful chipboard owl by coating it with stickers. Overlap the stickers to cover any exposed chipboard. Paint on details like eyes and a beak.
