How to Strengthen the Frame of a 240Z
- 1). Locate a local or online dealer that deals in 240Z aftermarket parts. Find a strut bar designed for your car’s model year.
- 2). Choose between a front or rear strut bar. Different strut bars are made for front and rear installation on the car, so purchase one for the appropriate end of the vehicle. Front strut bars are bolted across the engine block and on top of both of the car’s front strut towers. Rear strut bars are usually more difficult to install as they are generally bolted into the inside of the car, directly behind the row of seats, under the package shelf and on top of the rear shock towers. Sway bars can also be installed on the rear underside of the car that bridge the two control arms together.
- 3). Install the strut bar on to the car using the directions and hardware provided with the bar. For the front bar, you can lift the hood of the car, remove the bolts on the top of each strut tower, align the bar and reinstall the bolts. For the rear bar, remove the package shelf behind the seats to gain access to the shock towers.
