How to Remove the Drive Shaft From a GSR
- 1). Raise the front of the Acura GSR with the jack and then place jack stands below the front of the car to support the weight. Take off the front wheels with the tire iron. Unbolt the center spindle nut from the middle of the brake rotor using the 1/2-inch ratchet and socket.
- 2). Unbolt the bolt connecting the strut to the lower control arm using an open-end wrench and the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Then unbolt the steering knuckle from the ball joint on the lower control arm using an open-end wrench. Separate the arm from the knuckle using the ball joint removal tool.
- 3). Place a drain pan underneath the transmission. Open the drain plug on the transmission using the ratchet. Pull the steering knuckle away from the half shaft, and tap the center of the shaft out of the knuckle with the mallet, if necessary.
- 4). Pry the half shaft away from the transmission using the pry bar, then pull the half shaft out of the transmission and chassis entirely.
